Placed an order with inspo for my daughter's 19th bday cake and omg it came out amazing! My daughter was so excited and the cake tasted just as good as it looks!
Tried their pork tamales, they were spicy and tasted good. Also tried a variety of baked goods and they were all good as well. There is a large selection, so choosing what to get was hard. Everything looked good. There was a line out the door but it moved quickly.
While Thanksgiving shopping, I stopped to chat with a clerk who raved about a Mexican bakery on San Gabriel Boulevard. She could not recall the name but said the Mexican bread and the tamales were amazing. Fast forward to what I swear was Big Brother listening and pulling up this bakery for me on Yelp. Is it the same bakery that woman spoke of? We'll never know but if you're familiar with the area, the probability it very high based on the fact there's not many non-Asian establishments in this area. Let's start with parking....you see the lot pictured. It can become a shitshow so just park on the side street. This place accepts credit cards but will charge you $0.50 to use them. So, bring cash if you have it. Now let's get to the yumminess with Mexican bread first up. Mexican bread is usually on the dry side. This bakery, however, has elevated Mexican bread. It is so airy and fluffy. Total game changer for my tastebuds. As you can see, I tried an assortment. The jelly roll was the best I have ever had - it was so moist! A customer recommended the two Porto's knocks off you see pictured - they were ok but Porto's still reigns. But back to the Mexican bread - you will not be disappointed and should also sample an assortment. All of the ones I ordered were fluffy and airy, nothing at all like the usual dry texture you find at other panederias. I actually went to this bakery first and foremost for my yearly tamale hunt. The pork was quite spicy for me but I liked it. The chicken and chili/cheese were on the milder side. The tamales have that homemade feel and taste to them and they did not disappoint. I did think they're on the smaller side for $3.25 when Mascota sells theirs, which are bigger, for $2.84. I also didn't detect a special element to their masa (I love masa). While not out of this world, they definitely hit the homemade spot and are worth trying. I would definitely keep this place in rotation for a tamale craving. All in all, this place is definitely one to keep bookmarked and one which I will be returning to for both Mexican bread and tamales.
The service that we received was excellent when we got there there was a little line but it moves fast. If you're looking for authentic tamales you got to try this location. They were on point! They're pastries were also very delicious. My family and I will for sure be back!
I was worried that Porto's wasn't opened the day after thanksgiving but I found this amazing gem in the San Gabriel valley
NaVis Bakery is my go-to spot for authentic Mexican baked goods. Their pan dulce is irresistibly soft and perfectly sweet. My family and I can't get enough of their tamales, packed with flavorful masa and savory fillings. I always treat myself to a decadent slice of Choco Flan or pick up a Rosca de Reyes, a festive essential during the holiday season.
Best Mexican Bakery! Discover a world of decadent cakes, creamy flans, fluffy muffins, crisp golden pastries, soft Mexican bread, and traditional tamales! Navis Bakery is known for Mexican baked goods such as conchas, tamales, and cakes. Try the corn bread! Nothing beats the nostalgic taste of our Fresh Corn Bread! Try the concha! The concha, a beloved Mexican pan dulce, blends Spanish and French influences. It's fluffy brioche-like bread and cookie-like topping.
I still come back to NaVis Bakery whenever I crave pastries. Honestly, I think that NaVis makes them better than Portos. NaVis fills their pastries with enough filling and they offer a variety of filling. My favorite ones are mango, pineapple, guava, and cheese. I always come here and buy a bunch to freeze at home and they reheat so nicely in the toaster oven. Service is friendly and there is never a long line where you wait forever like at Portos.
